The bill (Reg. No. 1103) aims at improving the procedure of confiscation of property which was used to commit a crime or during the commission of a crime, and property obtained by a crime.
The draft law proposes to supplement the current Criminal Code with new articles 96(1) “Special confiscation” and 96(2) “Cases of special confiscation”, and to amend a range of articles of the Criminal Procedural Codes of Ukraine.
According to the Committee, the provisions of the project, in case of its adoption, could lead to massive violations of property rights of natural and legal persons who are not complicit in the crime, or even are the victims of a crime.
